My professional story starts when I graduated from BYU with a degree in Advertising. My focus was strategic account planning. It was here where I developed my foundations in gathering insights from customers and users and turning that into actionable business decisions.
After graduating, I started working at a digital marketing agency where I was an SEO specialist. I was tasked with auditing websites to determine why they weren’t ranking as high on Google. This was my first introduction to web design as the hierarchy of information, headings, ease of use, and user experience were all things I looked for in my analysis.
After looking at so many websites, I realized that designing them was something I was more passionate about then marketing. So I enrolled in DevMountain’s UX design bootcamp. Here, I would learn the basic principles of User Experience Design and develop my design process.
A few months after completing my certificate, I got a design role at a small startup. I was so grateful for this opportunity and learned a ton very quickly. This was only a short-term contract position but I fell in love with startups and the fresh energy of a young company.
Through a coworker at my last job, I was introduced to another design opportunity at a startup that was much more established. I spend over a year here harnessing my design skills, developing my knowledge, and helping this small company grow. We were more of an agency so I had the opportunity to design for several different clients and industries.
Working so closely with developers at Kizan Solutions, I realized I knew very little about how the backend of websites and applications worked. I wanted to be able to understand this better and navigate data in order to best serve the users I design for. As a result, I pursued a Master’s Degree of Business Data Analytics while working at Kizan Solutions.
Putting all my knowledge and experience together, I landed at DoBiz where I designed software to help entrepreneurs and startups around the world.
